SBR Attending Oden & Durant Workouts This Week

SBR is based in Portland, Oregon and today has the potential to be one of the most exciting sports days we've seen in the Rose City in quite some time. The city is abuzz with enthusiasm for the city's NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

This will likely be my only post of the day as I'll be attending the pre-draft workout of Greg Oden today at the Trail Blazers practice facility with my producer Bobby Corser. The Trail Blazers will also hold a press conference to announce the hiring of former Nike Basketball VP/GM  Larry Miller and we'll be there for that.

Greg Oden arrived in Portland yesterday to a hero's welcome. He was greeted by throngs of fans, media and even Trail Blazers cornerstones Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge. That was a nice touch I thought. Roy and Aldridge will also be out at the airport on Friday to meet College Basketball's Player of the Year for 2007, Kevin Durant, who will be in Portland to work our for the team.

I haven't seen Greg Oden play in person since his days of summer ball on the Nike high school circuit. (I used to do some PR work and media training for Nike's grassroots hoops program). I'm very interested to see him up close and in person today and see how he has progressed. The Trail Blazers will allow the media to watch the last 20 minutes of the workout. I've been more than impressed with the personality Oden has shown via his interviews with the media and his personal blog though.

Bobby Corser and I plan on attending the Kevin Durant workout on Friday as well, so I'll be able to clue you in on which player I think made the better impression on this weekend's edition of Sports Business Radio.

The Trail Blazers have the #1 pick in next Thursday's (June 28th) NBA Draft.

I'll check in with you later.
