Nike and Wieden + Kennedy Team Up to Cheer Up Greg Oden

Nike and their ad agency Wieden + Kennedy (both are world headquartered in Portland) are teaming up to try to lift the spirits of Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden. Oden, the number one pick in the June NBA draft had season ending microfracture surgery last week and will become the first player in NBA history to miss his entire rookie season because of injury (David Robinson missed his rookie season because of his Naval Academy service commitment).  Oden is also a Nike endorser and signed a contract with the company shortly before the NBA draft.

The creative minds at Nike and W + K have created the world's biggest "get well" card for Oden and over the next week, the card will make its way around Portland for fans to sign. The card, which is made up of three 4' x 8' panels, has a rose on the front panel and the words "Get Well". Inside the card you'll find the message "Greg, Just Do It".

The card will make its initial appearance at a local high school football game this evening (Grant vs Southridge at Southridge High School) and will be transported around Portland over the next week in an old-school ambulance that will have Nike branding on the side. It will be presented to Oden late next week.....like Thursday, October 27th.

So if you happen to see this ambulance making its way to your area of town in the next few days, find out where its going to stop and send your get well wishes to Mr. Oden.

UPDATE: The Oden "Get Well" card will make an appearance in the center of Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Wednesday, September 26th from 11:00am - 2:00pm. I caught the card yesterday in the lobby of Wieden + Kennedy and signed it. Its a pretty cool looking card I must say and should definitely take up some substantial space in Oden's new house.
