AUDIO ON DEMAND - Inside the Portland Trail Blazers Following the Kevin Pritchard Firing
On today's Portland-only edition of Sports Business Radio on 95.5FM The Game I analyzed the recent firing of Portland Trail Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard. Many people were surprised that Pritchard was fired and even more puzzled as to the timing of the firing. Since Thursday's firing most Blazers fans have been looking for reasons as to why Pritchard fell out of favor with Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen as well as Allen's Vulcan staff. But if you pull back the curtain and really examine the inner workings of Vulcan and the Trail Blazers and if you know the truth about Kevin Pritchard's working relationships with his colleagues there are some interesting revelations. Listen here to my analysis and you may understand this past week's actions more clearly. And I want to reiterate what I said on the radio today - Kevin Pritchard has always been gracious with me and I respect the job he did in Portland. His letter to the fans today was a classy move. The professional sports landscape is tricky and sometimes personalities clash. I have no axe to grind with him whatsoever nor am I siding with Steve Patterson. But what Patterson said in his interview with The Morning Sports Page on Friday was accurate. My bet would be that Pritchard will take what he learned from his experience in Portland and he'll be a very solid GM for another NBA team.
