MLB Playoff Predictions from SBR staff.....
Mon, 2007-10-01 20:22 — Berger
The 2007 MLB Playoffs are upon us and the staff of Sports Business Radio is ready to weigh in with predictions. SBR Co-Founder Keith Forman, SBR Contributor Nathan Roach and SBR Executive Producer Bobby Corser have submitted their selections to me.
So, here we go:
American League:
Brian Berger (SBR Host/Founder) - Yankees over Indians and Red Sox over Angels - Red Sox over Yankees
Nathan Roach (SBR Contributor) - Yankees over Indians and Red Sox over Angels - Red Sox over Yankees
Bobby Corser (SBR Producer) - Yankees over Indians and Angels over Red Sox - Angels over Yankees
Keith Forman (SBR Co-Founder) - Yankees over Indians and Angels over Red Sox - Angels over Yankees
National League:
Brian Berger (SBR Host) - Phillies over Rox/Padres winner and Cubs over D-Backs - Phillies over Cubs
Nathan Roach (SBR Contributor) - Phillies over Rox/Padres winner and Cubs over D-Backs - Cubs over Phillies
Bobby Corser (SBR Producer) - Phillies over Rox/Padres winner and Cubs over D-Backs - Cubs over Phillies
Keith Forman (SBR Co-Founder) - Phillies over Rox/Padres winner and Cubs over D-Backs - Cubs over Phillies
World Series:
Berger - Red Sox over Phillies
Roach - Red Sox over Cubs
Corser - Angels over Cubs
Forman - Angels over Cubs
A few other thoughts:
- Its very tough to pick a winner in the AL. I could see any of the four teams winning it all. Just like last year's Cardinals team, and the White Sox from two years ago, which ever team gets hot this time of year will win it all. I don't see the World Series winner coming from the NL this year.
- As I said in an earlier blog post, I look for big TV ratings this postseason. With the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Phillies and Angels in the playoffs, there should be plenty of people tuning in. The only way this doesn't happen is if we wind up with a D-Backs vs Indians World Series.
- Remember, for the first time in a dozen years, ESPN will not carry the MLB Playoffs. The entire first round is on TBS, then the NLCS is on TBS while the ALCS is on Fox. The World Series is also on Fox. I hope you have TBS or you will be an unhappy camper this postseason (TBS is carried in 23 million less homes than ESPN).
- If I was picking with my heart, I'd have the Cubs winning it all. I'd love nothing more than for the "lovable losers" to end their drought and win it all. I just don't see it happening though. I hope I am wrong.
