NFL Predictions

Should be a fantastic weekend of NFL football. Here are my picks:
SEATTLE over Green Bay - The Packers have had an incredible season, but the Seahawks defense comes in playing as inspired as any defense in the NFL. This will be a close game and in the end, former Packers coach Mike Holmgren will get the best of Brett Favre and his inexperienced teammates.
NEW ENGLAND over Jacksonville - As I wrote earlier in the week, I think this game has all of the makings to be THE most memorable game of the year in the NFL. The Jags play ball control, smashmouth football and that's exactly what you need to beat the Pats and their record-setting offense off of the field. But how can anyone pick against Tom Brady and his 12-2 career playoff record? I'll take the Pats in a classic that we'll be talking about for months.
INDIANAPOLIS over San Diego - No defending Super Bowl champ, with a 13-3 record and arguably the game's best QB has ever flown under the radar like this year's version of the Colts. The loss of Antonio Gates will be too much to overcome for the Chargers. This game basically comes down to this question - who are you betting on? Peyton Manning or Philip Rivers? Unless LT has a career day, the Chargers are in for a long day in what will likely be the last game ever played in the RCA Dome.
COWBOYS over GIANTS - Can we please stop all of the ridiculous talk about how Tony Romo will be a mess this weekend after escaping to Mexico with pop star Jessica Simpson last week? The Cowboys are considerably better talent-wise than the Giants, so unless the Cowboys beat themselves, it should be on to the NFC Championship game for Romo and company. Like Philip Rivers, I don't trust Eli Manning in a big game. And one last thing. Romo remembers the botched hold in last year's playoff game against the Seahawks. He wants playoff redemption and will be focused.
If my selections above come to fruition, we'll be treated to two entertaining conference championship games next weekend. For my money, I'd rather watch Peyton Manning vs Tom Brady than any rivalry in sports.
Enjoy your weekend and we'll talk to you on this weekend's edition of Sports Business Radio where my guests will be Portland Trail Blazers rookie center Greg Oden and Protrade.com Co-Founder Jeff Ma.
UPDATE: Obviously my career handicapping NFL games is going nowhere. After going 1 for 4 this weekend, I've decided that maybe I should just stick to covering the business side of sports and not make any more predictions on the outcome of games. Thank God I don't have a bookie and that I was nowhere near a sports book this weekend or I could have really hurt myself!

1 for 4...not bad. The Seattle game didn't exactly go as you scripted...just stick to pr-spinning! :)
