Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey Headlines This Weekend's Edition of SBR

Two terrific guests will join me on this weekend's edition of Sports Business Radio. The Houston Rockets are the hottest team in the NBA and have won 20 games in a row. Its the longest winning streak in the NBA in 37 years and the 2nd longest winning streak in NBA history. We'll catch up with the architect of the Rockets roster, 35-year old GM Daryl Morey. Morey is cut from the same cloth as such "Moneyball" GM's like Billy Beane and Theo Epstein. He is an MIT grad who uses quantitive analysis to evaluate basketball talent. So far so good for the boy wonder who took a different route than most to the NBA GM seat.

I had the opportunity to meet Daryl Morey last September when I was in China. I attended a charity basketball game and gala hosted by Yao Ming and Steve Nash and Morey was also at the events to show his support of Yao Ming. We had the opportunity to talk and get to know each other over the course of a few days and I came away super impressed by Morey and his unique approach. He's a really good guy.

Also on this weekend's show is Tyler Epp, GM of Hall of Fame Racing. Epp will give us a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of a NASCAR team. From annual team budgets to how much sponsors pay to be associated with a NASCAR team, we'll break down the business of NASCAR with Epp on this weekend's show.

Epp is a longtime listener of our show and he actually contacted me a few years ago to reach out to compliment us on our show as well as offer up his expertise when it comes to the world of NASCAR (I am by no means a NASCAR expert). He's been a friend of the show and a valuable resource ever since.

As I have always said, we have some very intelligent listeners that work within the sports business industry. Any time we can get those listeners to share their expertise, it benefits all of us.

Talk to you this weekend!
