Jam packed edition of Sports Business Radio heading your way this weekend. I promise you after listening to this weekend's show, you'll learn at least a few things you didn't know before.
The NFL Draft is coming up next weekend (April 26-27) in NYC. The draft is always a ratings bonanza for ESPN and the NFL Network as more people tune in to watch the draft than tune in to watch the early rounds of the NBA Playoffs. Yahoo! Sports NFL Reporter Charles Robinson will join me on SBR this weekend to discuss the economics of the NFL Draft - team salary caps for 2008, rookie caps, what the top picks can expect to be paid. Charles will also give us his sleepers and busts.
Also on this weekend's show, we'll go in-depth on the current situation with the NBA's Seattle Sonics. The NBA Board of Governors is meeting today and tomorrow in NYC to vote on the relocation of the the team that has called Seattle home for 41 years to Oklahoma City. But there are many other questions surrounding this situation. Can former Sonics owner Howard Schultz win a lawsuit that would rescind the sale of the team to Clay Bennett back in 2006 and save the day in Seattle? What is going to happen in court this summer regarding the enforcement of the Key Arena lease that calls for the Sonics to play their home games in Seattle until the end of the 2010 season? Jerry Brewer, sports columnist for the Seattle Times will join us to discuss this complex topic.
We'll also chat some golf - from the final TV ratings for The Masters to the knee surgery that will sideline Tiger Woods for the next 4-6 weeks.
We'll chat about the NFL regular season schedule that was released this week. Which TV network came out on top? NBC, ESPN, Fox, CBS or the NFL Network? We'll tell you who landed the best games.
And I'll share with you my favorite sports promotion of the week - its a good one.
Talk to you this weekend on Sports Business Radio.
