Inside the Courtroom of the City of Seattle vs Sonics Trial on this Weekend's Edition of SBR
Fri, 2008-06-20 18:54 — Berger
The city of Seattle and the Supersonics have been trading barbs all week long in a Seattle courtroom. We'll talk to someone who has been in the courtroom all week long to witness the drama firsthand - Seattle Times writer Jim Brunner. He's covering the six-day, nonjury trial to determine whether the Seattle Sonics must honor the final two years of its lease at KeyArena, the NBA's smallest venue. Sonics owner Clay Bennett is trying to move the team to Oklahoma City; the city of Seattle is asking U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman to force the team to stay until the end of the 2009-10 season.
There are some interesting techniques that have been used by the lawyers defending both sides and Jim will give us some insight as to which side has done the best job of presenting its case thus far.
Also on this weekend's edition of SBR we will give you the TV ratings and vital numbers from last weekend's U.S. Open. We'll also discuss in length the injury to Tiger Woods that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of 2008. How will Tiger's absence effect the golf world? There will be a ripple effect and we'll share which entities are most likely to be affected by a golf world without Tiger.
And finally, we'll recap the TV ratings for the NBA Finals and we'll discuss what might be in store for the Boston Celtics, who won their 17th NBA Championship this past week.
Talk to you this weekend across our radio network. In Portland we're on from 3pm - 5pm PT on 95.5FM The Game.
