Olympic Opening Ceremony Performers Endure Harsh Conditions while Training

We hear often about the poor labor conditions that exist in China because of the fact that there are no unions to protect the rights of workers. Well it seems that the thousands of performers who made the Olympic opening ceremonies so spectacular were treated harshly by the organizers of the opening ceremony as they trained for the big night. Not only were they made to train 16 hours per day, but there was even a performer who was paralyzed during the rehearsals.
So if you buy that NBC DVD of the spectacular opening ceremony, remember the cruel treatment many of the performers endured to put on such a show.
Again, its amazing to me that NBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics is so soft. The network is more concerned with showing us delayed coverage and puff pieces than they are with bringing us the REAL stories that are taking place in and around the games.
Disappointing.
