AZ Cards Sell Out NFC Championship Game in 6 Minutes

I'm a Phoenix native and I can tell you that the Arizona Cardinals have long been an afterthought behind the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Not this week.
The Arizona Cardinals sold out all of the tickets to the NFC Championship game this Sunday against Philadelphia in a mere 6 minutes yesterday.
Aren't sports fans fickle? A month ago people in Phoenix were complaining how poorly the Cards were playing as they stumbled into the playoffs. Now? Just like Tampa Bay Ray fan, they're all on board for the postseason thrill ride.
I can't blame them though. Its an exciting time.
And its an even more exciting time for the Bidwell family - the owner of the Cardinals. You see, playoff home games are like finding money under your pillow from the tooth fairy. Except we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars instead of a silver dollar.
Pro sports teams don't budget for playoff games normaily, so hosting a post season game or two and reeling in the money from ticket sales, parking, concessions and merchandise sales is a big boost for a team's bottom line.
I'm sure the Rooney family - the owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers will enjoy the same kind of profitable day this Sunday when the Steelers host the Ravens in the AFC Championship at Heinz Field.
