The NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships is one of the prized properties in all of sports. CBS' contract with the NCAA is worth more than $6B alone. March Madness has become a cultural phenomenon in the United States and has attracted fans young and old, diehard and casual.
The man responsible for making sure the tournament runs smoothly from an operations and broadcast standpoint is Greg Shaheen, the Senior VP of Basketball and Business Strategies for the NCAA. Shaheen and his staff of only 10 or so people work their tails off to pull off this complex, multi-venue tournament each year.
The Final Four takes place this weekend at Ford Field in Detroit. Shaheen will be my featured guest on this weekend's edition of Sports Business Radio.
With the MLB season getting under way this Sunday, Maury Brown from the Bizofbaseball.com will also stop by to discuss the opening of Citi Field and Yankee Stadium in New York amongst other topics.
